| | why droid?
This is a serious question for all you android users:
Why android? I've been a blackberry user for years and would like to hear from you droid converts why droid over blackberry? I rely heavily on email, txt. LED notifications, syncing w/outlook & iTunes.
Seriously, I'd like to know why a droid would be a more useful device for me?
This is why I'd like to hear from you blackberry converts.
Thanks in advance

Why ask the question if you're happy with the device you have? Seems like there's no point other than to start an argument.

If what you primarily do is what you just listed I wouldn't bother. The keyboards are all significantly worse (even the best ones), the LED doesn't even come close (those that actually have them and some of the ones that do are almost useless).
The android browser is better. Virtual keyboard is A LOT better. Games are a million times better. More app availability. Google services integration and apps are a million times better. But none of that exactly matches what you primarily use.

My objective is not to start anything. A couple of my droid friends tell me droids "better". I can certainly think for myself but I thought I'd get some feedback from ppl who have made the switch. Pretty harmless but informational.
But....thanks for your ”input”

Thanks in advance | I had a Storm2. very few apps for it. I also have a Touch. Now that I have a Bionic, I have the same apps as what's on iOS. I use the heck out of my Bionic and hardly used the Storm except to message and use as a phone. The list of things Android phones can do is similar to the long list of things that iOS can do, but Android is my preference. it's got Flash (and YES I LIKE being able to access Flash content on a browser!!). It's VERY FAST. I get over 20Mbs download speeds over 4G. I hardly used any data when I had the storm because is sucked at browsing. slow speed, crappy interface, jerky motions, hard to select items, etc, etc. overall, it was a LOUSY experience for what I'd hoped would be a very useful smartphone. I've had the Bionic since launch day and couldn't be more pleased with my decision to dump the Storm. I shudder when I think of all the $30/month down the drain for that thing!

Is that because the Bionic isn't very good at those things?
The first thing I need any phone to do is be a phone since my cell is my only phone.

Thanks for the input. I do love bkackbdrry, but if there's a device out there that'll help me do my job more efficently, I'm on it. Especially if the learning curve isn't too steep.

I chose Android because:
Great browser with Flash
Front facing camera for Skype video
Useful apps for travel etc
Large screen
Integration of Google services which I use a lot of
Free Google Navigation
After I got my Bolt I also discovered I love widgets. Email is much better on Android. Notification tray is really nice to have.

Thanks in advance | It is a valid question, I know that because I am there myself! I have been thinking about it for awhile, but have had the fear that I will not be able to break away from the Blackberry way of doing things. I decided to purchase a SGS2 and I will be getting the Bold 9900 on the 6th. I am going to give each a few weeks of dedicated use and see which I like better. In doing the research and setting stuff up, I have really grown to like all I can do with the Google interface, with the sync, tasks, documents, calendar, RSS feeds, etc accessible from all my devices and tightly integrated with the Galaxy. But then there is the keyboard, notifications, security, etc.. that comes with the BB..
I have a feeling at the end of this experiment I will like attributes of each device and have a tough decision to make!

Yes. I much prefer email on my Thunderbolt. HTML images load perfectly and completely. You can choose to auto load images as well. No truncation. I can view all gmail labels and folders. Emails look like it does on a PC.
Push mail of course. Adding attachments quick.

It's Android by the way, not Droid. Not all Android devices are Droid branded.
