I could be wrong, but I don't think dual core is a reuiremnt. I think it's just fully optimized to work better with dual core than earlier versions. But again, I may be wrong...

Technology moves so fast. It'll be face if I get ICS but I'm not getting my hopes up. Guess it makes sense as it will make users upgrade devices.

Doubt dual-core is a requirement. The Nexus S is definitely getting ICS and it's a single-core device.

I doubt it. The Thunderbolt barely got Gingerbread. They released it, then pulled it.
I'm sure they will release it again, but it's a good chance that will be the last build for it.
Those that are rooted may be able to download a custom ROM built from ICS, if one can be created.

I'm rooted so I expect the CM team to have a fully functional AOSP version on my G2.

The ICS launcher is pretty sweet... I've made it my default launcher for now (replacing LP). The dedicated icons in the dock for each screen is nice, not as slick as the scrolling dock in LP, but I think I can "get by" without it.
