- Anyone else get an email with this subject: "Upgrade Early for Special Deals On Our Newest Smartphones!"
Droid and Storm 2 were listed on the email. I called the Verizon number listed on there and she verified that my phone was indeed eligible for early upgrade (for any smartphone, not just the two in the email). My VIP 1 yr upgrade isn't even until mid January, so that's pretty neat.
Very interesting... personally I'm going to wait a few more weeks to see how everyone likes their droids once they've had a chance to break them in, but I'm very intrigued.11-09-09 06:43 PMLike 0 - Anyone else get an email with this subject: "Upgrade Early for Special Deals On Our Newest Smartphones!"

Almost a year ago, this happend to my girlfriend. She had only been with verizon for about 4 months when she got an e-mail saying you are eligible to upgrade, she went into the store with the print out, they looked up her account and said she was indeed eligible.
My thought on this was at the time she only had a dumbphone, alias i think. She upgraded to a blackberry, so I think it worked out for verizon to offer up a discount in return for 30.00 more a month.

My NE2 is on 11/28/10 but from what people are telling me, I am elligiable to do early upgrade on 12/28/09. Do you think Verizon will let me upgrade about 2 months early to pickup the Droid?11-09-09 08:25 PMLike 0
- My wife got that same one and we went into Verizon to get the Eris but they would only do the Droid or Storm2. I sent an email to Verizon to see if she can get the Eris.11-09-09 08:34 PMLike 0

You are actually eligible 11/28 for your 1 year upgrade. My NE2 was 11/28/2010 and I was able to get a Droid early. I sent an email asking and they made it happen. Send email through Verizon Contact us link and they will call you11-09-09 08:42 PMLike 0 - 11-09-09 09:55 PMLike 0

- I might be wrong, but if you signed up for a ne2 and are VIP, then you can get your upgrade a year only. But only of you've got VIP status. Which means your monthly bill has to be more then 80 a month? That's what I was told anyways.....you probably have to be acct manager also. But don't take my word for it, I'm not a very good listener....but I'm positive that's pretty close to what the VZW rep told me.

And to the person who was told they couldn't get an Eris, I'd call into customer service, because I asked if it was any smart phone and she said yes to me on the phone. Granted if I upgrade early it would probably be Droid... still waiting for it to be out longer to make a more informed decision.11-09-09 11:58 PMLike 0 - So my annual upgrade is 12/28/09 and I e-mail Verizon trying to see if they could give it to me early and the guy responded that he suggests that I upgrade to 5.0 on the Storm (which I already have) and that I'll be eligible on the 28th of December. What should I reply back to him to try to get him to budge to allow me to order the Droid now with the discount?

11-10-09 12:19 AMLike 0 - That's just the thing, although I'm a VIP my upgrade isn't until January as a VIP. (VIP's can upgrade ever year at 50 dollars off or every 2 years at 100 dollars off) So this early upgrade allows me to upgrade 2 whole months earlier than my 1 year.

I was thinking they offered it to me because I just called a few days ago and they are sending me a refurb due to distortion on the click screen. My contract isn't up for another year so I am feeling go lucky. I will get the droid I'm sure since the email says it will end by december 31st.11-10-09 01:45 AMLike 0
- I went to the "Enter Location" link on the first page of this post, and filled out the form with my info and my 'complaint(s)' yesterday around 2pm EST.... I haven't heard a peep (email or phone call) from VZW at all :-/
Might this be a good point of complaint if I don't get anything back by this afternoon, seeing as they claim to respond within 24 hours?11-11-09 09:41 AMLike 0 -
- So would the most beneficial method of communication with VZW be going to the retail store here or trying to call them?11-11-09 10:24 AMLike 0
- In my humble experience, I've had better luck calling by a wide margin. I am really happy with the in store experience I had this weekend here at a CLT store though, but overall, I personally prefer calling, even if it means whatever I'm ordering (phone upgrade or whatever) has to be shipped and I miss out on the instant gratification11-11-09 10:28 AMLike 0
- But instant gratification is so nice! :-p
I'll maybe go play with the phone again and inquire there....if the answer is not acceptable I'll give them a ring.....Besides the VZW store right next to the Teeter here, and I need groceries!11-11-09 10:36 AMLike 0
