I've had 3 different Storm2's that I've had to return due to various issues so I decided to use my 30 day exchange and get the Droid instead.

Does anyone know a way that I can transfer the contacts off my Storm2 onto my Droid without using Gmail? I use hotmail for my personal email.

I would just use gmail sync easy to do and if you don't use gmail at least now you have a extra back up of your contacts.

I also used the gmail sync, but if worse comes to worse, have them do it at the Verizon store.

So is a gmail account required to use the Droid? I was really hoping to be able to keep my Hotmail account.

No it's not required. But G-mail syncs contacts to your Droid seamlessly.

VZW does have the Backup Assistant service that you can use (I forget how much) to transfer your contacts from one device to another.

You can keep your hotmail account.... just create a G-mail account and sync your contacts to that... sync to your DROID and then you're done. You can sync multiple E-mail accounts to the phone. You shouldn't have a problem.
