With the latest news, of RIM selling the hardware division, I think the end is near, and the BB faithful better start deciding if they want to go with iOS or Android.

I have to wonder why those who have moved to something else even care? Trying to save us all from pain. Or just so they can say say nana nana booboo. My horse isn't dead, its alive and working well. I'm really not worried about it and will deal with it if it happens. It's no skin off my rear if RIM dies. It's just my choice of what I like. If that choice does go away ill find something else, easy.

Don't worry they aren't. Just seems some here, not saying you, post in every thread, RIM is dead and you all better move on before you're left crying blah blah. I've read rumors on here for years now about RIM being dead. Maybe this time it is true maybe not. I'm not not worried about what I'm going to do until the time I have to. I guess I just get tired of seeing it constantly.
Yes I can ignore it and do a lot and sometimes I don't and say my 2 cents worth. I'm going to have a good day and hope you do too.

I used BB for years but then moved to Android. I have mentioned to people that RIM is dying and that they ought to look to something else in the future. It's not about nananabooboo, I say it out of concern. The hardware is fine but BIS worries me. It has gone down a lot and if RIM is going under, it's not a stretch that BIS could have more problems and this could lead to some data loss or major delay. If RIM did not control the email and IM systems for its devices by itself, I probably wouldn't advise anything.

Pretty simple....
intead of getting a lot of different advice from users who may have different experience of needs and bias's.....
why not spend a bit of time at the store and have the sales person walk you through the paces on the devices you are considering..... if they will not.....find a new store.... this will allpw you to make an informed choice......
they are called smartphones for a reason.... sure each OS has different learning curve... but if you already use BB it not like you do not know the conventions....
I use BB Apple Android.... day to day...... they all do basically the same thing..... just how you do it is somewhat different.....
Good luck on with with whatever you choose.... just try before you buy..... - 06-25-2012, 04:52 PM #47
Odds are if you rely on a salesperson, you are asking for the same thing. They still have biases and preferences of their own.
I agree with trying before you buy, but relying on a salesperson is about as hit or miss as asking anyone elses opinion. Sales people aren't really required to have a ton of knowledge about all the different platforms either. My website http://papped.webatu.com - 06-26-2012, 09:05 AM #48
Agreed.
Sales people are even worse sometimes, especially if you're asking about a device that hasn't hit market yet. Last week I was asking a rep about the S3 and she said it wasn't coming out for months and tried to hustle me into a galaxy nexus. They want you to buy from them ASAP and won't properly explain your options - either that or they really don't know what they're talking about.

I've actually winced listening to some sales people try to sell a phone. Their overall lack of knowledge is astounding. One salesman had a customer so excited that the current crop of BBs had front facing cams that he was visibly deflated when further inspection (15mins of online research) revealed that they didn't.

I agree. Forum people like us usually know a lot more than the salespeople at company stores. I usually just ask them to fire one up and get out of the way. I remember trying out the old BB Storm in a store back in the day and the thing's RAM was all used up and the phone ground to a halt and customers were going "what a POS", and all they had to do was a battery pull. But the battery compartment on the demo was hardwired to the wall socket and they had no idea how to do it. And this is a Verizon factory store.
