Talking about Launchers I read there is a Jelly Bean launcher for the SG3, has anyone tried it? It sounds cool.

I found the TW weather widget apk and looked into it. Unfortunately it uses a whole host of various backgrounds for specific weather conditions with weather icons already on each background image rather than a single, blank, background image. So it wouldn't be helpful to use those backgrounds with Fancy Widgets. But it's still easy to find a background as colorful as the TW widget.

Yeah, the JB Launcher is in the Play Store and basically the same as the ICS launcher. It won't provide unique functionality like the JB system will.

Here is an example I just finished with a randomly chosen clock skin background. The screenshot is with the uploaded image I got off of Google images.

This is awesome! I need to do something like this! Looks so crisp and sharp and bright. Thanks for sharing and Double Like.
Are there any specific steps? Oh, and what about your wallpaper?

    You're very welcome

The only thing to do is copy the FancyWidgets folder from your phone to your PC where you can keep a safe copy and also do all of the changes. The FW folder simply needs at least one downloaded skin - I used the Roboto Thin White skin to have the specific digits I like. Then simply find a preferred background image as close to the dimensions as the original "base" image as possible - doesn't need to be exact and you can mouse over the "base" image in the clockskin folder to see its dimensions - and save it as a png image file named "base". Then delete the current "base" image file from the clockskin folder and put the new "base" image file into that folder. Then copy the whole folder back to the Fancy Widgets folder on your phone - delete the original clockskin folder first.

The wallpaper is a Nexus S original wallpaper and easy to find on Google just by searching for, "Nexus S wallpapers". Or you can find them on the Play Store.

By the way, I did a Google images search with "blue sky images" for the FW clockskin background. When you see an image you want, mouse over it and select "More sizes" to get to a preferred size.

Just for extra info, each clockskin folder has 4 actual widget background images - "base", "base_land", "base_small" and "base_small_land" for portrait and landscape versions of the selected widget if you enable the landscape mode for homescreens. You can use your desired image editing program - I use the basic Windows one - and edit the other "base" images to match the specific sizes. Below are examples:

I've book marked this thread so I can do the step by step. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. In the meantime I found some fabulous Apex themes and clock skins. I thought this one was hot:-)

Something I just discovered in Touchwiz on the S3 - press & hold on the homescreen indicator brings up a cool homescreen scroll.

Just found a way to substantially increase smoothness. Under Developer Options--> Limit Background Processes. I set mine to 5 and notice a difference

if you are in the apps drawer, and you pinch the screen, you will see all pages of your apps and can quickly choose the one you want

I also discovered something with Apex. If you are on a home screen and Press and swipe down the page it opens the app drawer. It means you don't have to go the app drawer shortcut to get to the apps and widget drawers.

When viewing videos using the stock video player, you can lock the touchscreen by pressing the power button so that the video does not get interrupted by inadvertent touches. This is especially useful if you are using your phone to entertain your baby or toddler. Also works with mx player though haven't tried it with other players

If you get tired of re-unlocking your screen when it turns off, you can set it to not lock for a set period of time after the screen turns off... Go to menu>settings>security>Lock automatically and change the timeout.

If you have a Drop Box Account, it works seamlessly with the S3. Browsing my Drop Box is like browsing my phone. It's pretty neat - I have access to anything I've uploaded previously which is great And when you take photos or screen shots it uploads them to Drop Box where you can browse them and share to anywhere right from there. I might not even need all the storage I have on my phone... I also have a 32GB mSD card. Mind you I haven't stored many videos or a lot of music just yet. Still, I think altogether there's more than enough space for my needs.

I might be able to invite you. Let me find out. But didn't you get some free when you got your new Samsung? I got an additional 2GB I think when I set it up on my new phone.

Best business tool ever. Seriously. I have a file shared with our work Dropbox and my wife's Dropbox.

I use it store documents, collaboration work, and it auto backs up all my photos. I also store encrypted Datavault files and my Titanium backups.

HTC gave me 25 extra GB for 2 years.

Yes it is! I also got an extra 25G free for 2 years when I got my SG3. As I already had a Drop Box account Samsung added the 25G of storage to it. Whoop!

PP - If you want I can invite/refer you to Dropbox. I'd have to do it by email. Each time I invite someone I get an extra 500mb free space once they join (not that I need it I already have over 50 GB, but it's a nice referral incentive). If you're interested PM me.

But if you install Dropbox on your new SG3 or HTC I believe you should get several GB free Drop Box space, so check that out first.

I noticed that any time you send an email in gmail with our new phones (t-mobile version at least), it puts a stupid T-mobile signature at the bottom of the email. I found that you can change it by going to gmail>menu>settings>email@gmail.com>signature and putting in whatever you want.

you can get your status bar in ANY full screen app, even full screen games. How? Start with your finger touching just outside of the top of the display and drag down, it will fade in and you can check your notifications, it works both in landscape and portrait mode

I've been using Fancy Widgets for my homescreen weather widget and have always chosen to use an alternate weather provider with it. Now, however, I find that the Fancy Widgets built in weather function is the way to go because it lets me choose the weather provider of choice and avoids double-tasking to display weather results. Beforehand my phone was tasking two different weather apps to provide a single service. The FW app and the chosen, installed weather app were both being used for a singular purpose. Having uninstalled all other weather apps and having set FW's internal weather provider function to my desired weather source - Accuweather - and setting the FW geocoder to "Weather provider", my phone system will function more efficiently. Only one app will be tasked with refreshing and providing weather results.

The menu where this can be accomplished is the FW "Location" menu. In that menu can also be added other locations to be selected by a pre-set tap function on the widget location display. Pre-set tap functions can be found in the "Advanced" settings menu.
