Replacing BB Travel, BB Weather, and BB News
When my android device comes next week I'll need to find a weather, news, and travel app. Can anyone recommend some android apps that would replace BB Weather, BB Travel, or BB News? Are there any other must-haves out there?

Weather Widget with AccuWeather, Weather Channel App, Flipboard for news, travel and social media. I am new to Android as well transitioning from RIM.

News - Flipboard is the best for news and you can add pretty much any source you want. The UI is very clean.
Travel - Never really used BB Travel so not sure of anything I can vouch for. There should be a pretty good selection though. Maybe Kayak?
Weather - I use a Fancy Widgets which is like the Sense weather widget. The best weather app I would say is The Weather Channel. - 07-13-2012, 09:58 PM #5
You can add Facebook and Twitter to Flipboard.

For travel I like TripIt. Weather, I like WeatherBug Elite because you can add a map widget. I'm just now getting into Flipboard, but I had been just using the HTC Sense news widget. I'm not sure if Moto has something similar.

BeWeather Pro is on Android - I know it's a BlackBerry favorite. I use it and I love it.
For news/RSS, Pulse is good. Flipboard is also good.
For travel, there are tons of options. TripIt, Kayak, TripAdvisor, etc. - 07-14-2012, 09:05 AM #8
I use Pulse for news. Flipboard is nice and pretty, but when I get past the pretty UI, I find that I prefer the simplicity of Pulse.
For weather I use WeatherBug. It wasn't the greatest app when I used a BB, but on Android it's rather exceptional.
As for travel apps, there are several available from Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Kayak, Hipmunk, Priceline, etc.. Personally I use Kayak. TripIt is nice, but last I recall it didn't allow me to book hotels from the app. It's TweetMail time Craig! - Geoffrey Peterson - 07-14-2012, 10:54 AM #9
