So I want to get the Samsung Galaxy S 2. I live in Manitoba and we do not have Bell and probably won't for a long time. Who knows when Virgin finally decides to update their network here to support and start selling the SGS2. As you can see I'm in a pickle and can't buy it here.

But this cell phone store told me I can order it from them in another province for Virgin Mobile.

The question is would it be smart to order it from Virgin Mobile and try to unlock it to use with my Rogers network? Or should I continue waiting to see if Rogers starts sellling them?

If you want it, and know it can be unlocked to be used on Rogers, order it. If you can wait it out, wait it out. It is up to you to make the decision.

What network technology does Virgin use in Canada? I believe they use CDMA down here. If it is a CDMA device it will NOT work on Rogers unless it has dual mode capabilities. Rogers is a GSM only network.

Rogers has 4G network.. HSPA as well as GSM and Edge. Virgin claims they are also 4G.

Check your PMs, I responded with basically what you just said. If Rogers uses those bands (which I am pretty sure they do), then you are set.

I have never unlocked an Android device or looked up how to. I have only rooted and installed custom ROMs/Kernels/bootlogo/themes. Basically everything besides unlocking lol. Hopefully someone else here can help you with that.
