Embarrassingly basic question about Android:

Do all Android apps work on all Android phones?

I've got a Droid X coming to me so I can check it out. It'll be my first ever Android phone (all others BlackBerry). When I read about all the fabulous apps out there for Android phones, will they all work on the Droid X? Or will I need Droid X specific apps?

TBH, you might have some apps that don't run properly on the x, but you can send a report to the developer because there is contact info in the app. Most developers are responsive to problems when new devices/os versions are released.

Not all applications will work, Some applications require the phone to be rooted.

other than that if they show up in your market, they should world.

I have 2.1 on my phone, and i can see/use applications my wife (1.5) cannot see nor use.
