Default Long time BB user, new to Droid X review...

For anyone that may care or looking for opinions on making the change. I am a very long time BB user and have love using BB's. Most recent BB was the Storm 2.

After a lot of going back and forth I decided to finally make the change because some of the features the Droid X has like Hotspot, 720p video camera, and a Slingplayer app that actually works right.

Anyway on to my review between the Droid X and BB Storm 2.

Internet Browser - Goes to the Droid X and it is not even close. I have tried a few different browsers on the S2 and didn't really like any of them. The stock Droid browser is very fast. The pinch to zoom works very well. Big time upgrade here.

Typing - I like that the Droid X keyboard in landscape has much bigger buttons but the S2 typing is so much better IMO. I personally really like have to press the screen. It feels like you are really pressing buttons. I was also a lot more accurate with the S2. I do still need to get more use to the Droid so that will probably improve.

Ring tones - I personally like normal ring tones for phone calls and just a ding sound for messages. S2 wins here. They have a few to select from. The Droid X has one ok (at best) ring tone and I can't find any ding sound for my messages.

Slingplayer app - Works great on the Droid X. S2 still does not have an actually app. You have to use on for a different phone and it sucks.

Email - I need to get use to the Droid X but I personally like the S2 (or any BB) for email better. Email is the reason I stayed with BB for so long.

I will post more when I have more time but so far I'm happy with the change but there are still a lot of things I like about the S2 more.

Interesting, someone that actually like the Storm 2 better than something else. I've had my hands on a Storm 2 for a few days, can't say much positive about it, it was slow as #@$%- obviously because the S2 528MHz CPU vs X's 1GHz CPU (and Storm's slower than most BB's except the Pearl Flip which is 312MHz).

Not so much that I like it better than the Droid X that I now have or any other phone. I just like the typing better and email. Other than that the Droid is a better phone IMO.

His findings are kinda in line with mine. I still like BB combined inbox for mail, fb, etc. makes handling everything real easy. And i still fly when i type on my storm but cant go near as fast on the Inc

You need to try a few of the app replacements before making up your mind. Android is also about digging in the Market for things to fit the user.

For email, I'd recommend Touchdown. There's a 30day trial in the market. It has features many BB users will like.

For typing there are several keyboards to try aside from the default. I use and prefer Smart Keyboard, however others prefer Better Keyboard. And most of these other keyboards are skinnable as well which makes a difference usability wise.

For ring tones - simply download the ones you like. And if you like them louder than the phone will allow, edit them with any free audio editor.

Have you seen the swype keyboard? That thing is sick, just slide your finger from letter to letter without lifting it, people say their typing speed has gone way up with it.
