That's a little harsh for an exec to say. :S BGR is ridiculous and always so negative about BlackBerry, no surprise that they would publish this.

Folks love to kill the messanger....

JP Morgan executive director Mark Moskowitz is not impressed with Amazon’s first attempt in the tablet market

Its so funny but JPM is so far up Apple's *ss its not surprising to see this sort of response.

This product is going to be a smash hit, maybe not on the immediate scale of the iPad but its going to sting Apple significantly.

As a consumer devices this covers what most people will do with their device and that's consume things. Apps, Games, Movies, Music, Books, Web Browsing. This all at 199.

So for 40% of the cost of an iPad 2 you can do roughly 85-90% of what an iPad 2 can. Sure its missing things like bluetooth/gps/gyro/cameras/mic but in all honesty how many people are really using those items on a regular basis? I certainly dont and i own an iPad 2. And if you are a person who needs those in a tablet, then you probably already have an iPad 2 or something else.

The Kindle fire is rumored to have hit 100k preorder sales from its first day alone and i'm sure many more will come.

I'm wondering if the Fire is really going to hurt Apple significantly. What I think it's going to do is open up the tablet market to a new group of consumers that likely would not have considered a tablet before, due to price and vendor-specific features and functionality. It will very likely sell very well and probably steal potential new buyers from other tablets (unfortunately including the PlayBook); but I think most buyers who want an iPad are still going to want an iPad.

Wow... Ok. Hmmm. Maybe he will just get up and walk out when someone asks a question he doesn't like or his security thugs will knock some sense in to us or tell us again why we don't need mp3 players on our phones or that Doids/IPhones are a passing fad or just blow us off and not attend etc. etc. etc.

It's just an amazombie (said that for laughs) tablet restricted to amazon's zone. Like any other tablet on the market. There's gonna be a ton to buy it, then resell it on ebay for higher prices. I have seen it with just about every tablet.

this i completely agree with. But i think that most that are not going with an ipad will highly consider the fire as a great media consumption device

I think it will sell great to people who don't care much about privacy and aren't interested in installing custom roms (aka, 99% of the consumer market).

Yet this has nothing to do with BlackBerry.

Maybe BGR just posts news. He always posts negative news about RIM because for the past 2 years, 95% of news regarding RIM has been negative. Before that, he posted many positive articles.

Times change.

Also, JP Morgan is pro Apple. Of course they are going to say bad things about the Kindle and the first tablet that may actually give the iPad a run for its money (sales wise).

BGR is also a pro Apple website.

Really? We're actually going to say that a financial services company is something other than "pro" money? That doesn't make any sense. Say what you want about blogs, but JP Morgan pushes Apple because that's where the money is, and making money is their sole purpose.

Well that was my point. They wouldn't be Pro Apple if Apple had a ty stock price.

I am guessing they have a lot of money invested in Apple. My point was, for this reason, is that this is why they are going to put the Kindle Fire down. The reality is, that the Kindle Fire is the first tablet other than the iPad that will most likely sell very well.

Amazon sold a ton of Kindles and I didn't particular like Kindles myself (no color, kinda largish (early models) when you factor in that I can easily read books on a touch or cell phone). I'm going to have to presume that Amazon DOES know what they are doing, and will sell zillions of the new devices.
