Default iPhone group text, possible on Android?

I am wondering if Android has the ability to create Group Texts like you can on the the iPhone. What I mean is, not if I can send a message to multiple people, but if I can have a conversation via text with multiple people and they all show in one thread once they reply, like in the iPhone. Apps maybe? Thank you.

Why would you want the on the iPhone when the iPhone already has Group texting capabilities?

So, these apps work like the iPhone mms Group text?

Default GroupMe

I'm surprised nobody mentioned GroupMe. It is THE group text messaging app and works regardless of OS (uses SMS but you can use apps for Android, iOS, BB, WP7).

GroupMe

GroupMe
I know GroupMe but will I send messages with MY number, or will it send it as another number?

Plus, I am not asking to send just a group messages, I want the app to work like the iPhone one, where also the receiver sees a thread with many recipients...

no device will ever be perfect like no humans are perfect.every item has its flaws.if you want iphone texting, then why not choose an iphone over android in the first place?the novel thing to do would be adjust to the android settings and not worry about missing iphone's settings.

To answer both your concerns, here's how GroupMe works:

You create a group you want to message.
GroupMe creates a special phone number for that group.
When you send a text message to that number, it goes to the group.
GroupMe allows you to set names for each person in your group instead of listing their numbers, so conversations will look like a chat room like this:

Ted: Immortals tonight?
Kathy: I heard it sucks.
Ken: What about Paranormal Activity?
Ted: Sure. Paranormal it is.
Kathy: I think it starts at 9. See you all there at 8:45.

If you don't have a name listed then it'll show the phone number instead.

The tradeoff is that the recipients don't see it coming directly from your phone number nor can they see all the recipients in the group, but IMO the GroupMe method wins for everything else.

There is pretty neat cross platform messenger out called Hookt, that works among iPhone, android and blackberry. It has smilies and you can send photos. You can start and name a group chat, adding anyone from your contact list, and it is a threaded screen. Shows avatar photos of your contacts and is super fast, no lag. Free in Market
