If System Functions Aren't Acting "Properly"
There's a good chance there's a third party application you may have downloaded (in my case, it was 7digital) who wants to monopolize access to certain Android functions. For example, I didn't know what was going on with my notification power widgets, my lockscreen music controls; my volume rocker music controls, etc. I was at a loss, leading me to wipe my phone (unnecessarily, in retrospect), and reinstalling everything, only to realize 7digital was trying to take over these very universal means of interaction. I think there's a setting within the app to disable such attempts at proprietary control over system-wide functions (one of the reasons I don't like SenseUI), but I ended up uninstalling it.
