how are updates installed on the Galaxy 2

I have the samsung Galaxy 2 and I wanted to know how do I see if there are any updates for it since on my Galaxy S I used mini Kies and that would show me but on 2 kies is only used to see what is on your phone via the web

Can't you go to Settings, About, anc check for updates from the first option there?
