How open will the Verizon Droid really be?
I read this article over at cnet Will Verizon really open its Droid? And I thought it would be pretty good for discussion.
Do you think Verizon will live up to the Android name? Or find a way to cripple the device? - 10-21-2009, 03:58 PM #2
They are marketing it as a "Google Experience" device, so they won't cripple it in any way.
A little obsessive... - 10-21-2009, 03:59 PM #3
Google has control.........

Why would they cripple it? The whole "bang" factor with the Android OS is that you can do whatever you want with it. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did that.

Google is just as strong as VZ. But yes lets hope they learned a lesson with Apple

I watched some of the video's Google made for the developers and they made it very clear that the OS is meant to be, and stay, completely and totally user/developer customizable. I would only hope that the contract forbids Verizon from governing the OS is any fashion.

are you serious? only 5GB of data...do you know how much data that is in one month? I can guarantee that you don't use that much data on you Tmobile phone in one month.. most users won't even use 1 gb of data...verizon isn't the only one that puts a cap on data, at&t does it as well and I believe sprint is doing it too (correct me if i'm wrong)...it's become almost an industry standard...besides that, there's wi-fi which doesn't have anything to do with the data cap because you won't be using the network to use the internet....
