Don't do it. I got the Galaxy Nexus as a birthday present. Used it for a month and am back to my Bold 9930. The battery life is horrid. Had a lot of bugs. I couldn't use my calendar without it closing out and then sending me about a dozen messages that it closed due to error afterwards. And the phone is huge. It was like carrying around a tablet. I was unimpressed. Shouldve never left my Bold.

I just got the soon to be wife a Galaxy S 2 & had about 2 weeks of playing with it & setting it up for her before giving it to her. The 1rts few days with it I was impressed but that soon wore off & I really do appreciate my 9930 more than ever, not knocking android just saying I dont see where the WOW comes from, I can see it the 1rst few days but after that its nothing special, she loves it right now & hope she still does after the WOW weras off but as for me, im glad I got it for her & had a chance to use it, so I know now I wont be jumping ship from BB anytime soon

Everybody is going to have their own opinion, and all you can do is try different phones, and go with the one you like best. Having said that, my opinion is that the Galaxy Nexus is the best phone I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few. I have no problem using it one handed, and I love the openness of a pure Android phone. I'm a crack flasher, and I love being able to change things frequently. Since having this phone, I don't want to have anything other then a Nexus, regardless of the manufacturer.

The GNex is the BEST phone I've ever owned...hands down. As somebody else mentioned, the Android OS is a tinkerer's dream. I use my phone as a PC pretty much. I'm hardly on my desktop anymore, and with Android and this phone in particular, I can get away with it. The complaints I've heard in this thread don't line up with my experience with this phone. Even stock, right out of the box, I think the GNex is a great phone, but if you know and understand how Android works, you can maximize and tweak the phone way beyond the stock experience which is exactly what I have done. Battery life? I can go 36 hours with moderate use....15 hours of heavy use. Sound too low? Flashing a custom Rom and/or using Volume+ completely took care of that. I haven't experienced any reception issues even with stock. Typing isn't a problem. I just replaced the stock keyboard with one that suited me better. Can you say lots of apps?

Bottom line: Android is HIGHLY customizable and an end users and tinkerers dream. I feel completely in control of my device. I can tweak the memory, processor speed, gpu, user interface, battery consumption, etc. There are apps (a lot of which are free) for just about anything. The GNex is a multitasking beast too.

To each their own, but the GNex and Android are awesome for me and for my uses. I'd never go back to Blackberry. I left because it was just too boring of a platform for me and the specs were subpar.

Would not switch, but I'm itching for the Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket. In white.

My Atrix is old now. Getting itchy fingers. Just had my birthday last week and a whole weekend to go skulking....

Check out the HTC Vivid at AT&T. I compared it to the Skyrocket, and the Vivid won hands down.

Geez, that's good. What sort of "adjustments" have you had to endure to get that, RR? Any?

I'd be flat out getting those figures on my 9900.

Well I'm currently on a custom ROM and kernel..but to be honest I was getting great battery life on stock. The second day I had my Gnex I got over 4hrs of screen time, 1hr of calls and about 14hrs on the battery. I've been really impressed with my stock battery life tbh .. Did you end up getting a GSM version or LTE?

We don't have LTE here yet, so it was the GSM/3G variety they sell here. Getting excited for it!

BANDS:

GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, 3G 850 (NextG/Vodafone 850/US3G), 3G 900 (Optus YesG/Vodafone 900), 3G 1700, 3G 1900, 3G 2100

Grats! It really is an awesome phone so far. Like some have said..the sound can be a little low for speaker quality..but Volume+ app solves it. Keep us posted on your thoughts..good or bad
