I saw some other pictures of an Android phone running BBM but those were said to be photoshopped. I don't think this is real either.

And, no-one would pay when there are plenty of free options.

I might pay..but not $4/month. Personally i'd do like $10-$15 a year..if it was reliable (and I still had people on BBM )

One photo was debunked..but there was another one running around too from a supposed dev phone. I hadn't heard yet if that one was debunked too or not..

There is no way in **** I would pay to use BBM on a different platform, especially when the majority of people I know do not own BBs. Most use Androids, iPhones or feature phones. I know maybe 10-15 people that use BBs. I'm not going to pay an extra monthly/yearly fee to talk to them. They can get me on AIM, gtalk or SMS.

If it's £5/mth RIM can bugger off and forget about me getting a QNX BB. Keep it exclusive to BB phones and you for QNX

yup. just about everyone can receive SMS (for a long time, when I had a BB, I had my SMS blocked), so one way to deal with SMS expenses is to have the minimum plan (on verizon, $5 gets you 250 messages), and SMS someone who doesn't have one of the other apps open, let them know you'd like to continue a long convo on one of those apps, and switch away from SMS with them, to conserve the SMS allowance.

I still have unlimited SMS. Can see being without it at this point. A lot of people are still lazy and don't use IM clients on their devices. Most people I know with smartphones barely know wtf is going on because they are not technically inclined. They would rather just SMS since it's just easy and everyone can do it.

One day, hopefully soon, I will no longer be SMSing anymore.
