Default Email on Android / Desire S

I have three email accounts, a yahoo, a sky and a live account plus a gmail account I've just set up. So at the moment the first three ie yahoo, sky and live I've got them checking for new emails every two hours but I've heard I can set up in gmail for these to be pushed to my Desire S? I'd like to know what the advantages and disadvantages of this is?

Obvious advantage is that I've no longer got the three accounts checking every couple of hours and impacting on battery life, but are there other advantages or more importantly disadvantages?

Advantage would be one unified inbox for all your email. Plus getting push notifications. Honestly..I can't think of a disadvantage (unless you don't like Gmail..that would be it..)

You can try what roller suggests, or try something like k9 mail, which is free

Can I get Yahoo on pop 3 without upgrading my yahoo? Also will this help with battery life?

I don't know anything about Yahoo..but I don't see why you couldn't also forward that to gmail?..

Rick, I'd heard that Yahoo don't allow their pop3 mail to be forwarded, only on their premium account which one has to pay a subscription for.

Issanjose what is k9 (apart from Dr Who's dog)

weapon, k9 mail is an email program utilizing push notifications for popular accounts, like the yahoo being referenced in this thread. It also does gmail, and some others. It's free; allows pinch to zoom in the email body, and so on.

You need to pay the yahoo fee for exchange style push. Pop 3 you pay for. Imap you don't

And will I see my pop3 and gmail in there as the individual accounts, does it set them up for you too?

It'll detect the necessary settings for each account you set up, provided the account in question is supported by it
