| | Does email work differently on Android compared to Blackberry?
I'm probably going to ditch my bb9700 for a htc desire s, at the moment on my bb I have three separate email accounts, my. Yahoo, Live and my isp one, will it work the same on the android/htc? If so does it transition smoothly when switching devices ie literally put the old sim card in the new phone and emails will work or is there a delay because Blackberry have to physically switch off the email forwarding?
As a side question, bb9700 to desire s, a wise choice?

Not the same. All email on BB goes through RIM.
You will need to set them up separately, but once set up they work fine.
You will need to have a gmail account.

Once you have your gmail set up you can also set up your other email accounts. I have yahoo and hotmail with my gmail on my Thunderbolt.

Being honest the "push" on Android sucks compared to BB. It's no problem for me as I don't rely on email for communication. Gmail will either work fine or be hit or miss. Just my personal experience.

I prefer email on Android, but, in all fairness, all my accounts are Google (including work).

Why does it suck on Android compared to BB? I presume you mean there's a delay in it coming through? Surely it's down to how often the handset checks the email account?

I miss some things about my BlackBerry device but email is not one of them. I much prefer the email experience on an Android device. I get true push because I use gmail. I get emails faster than I did on my BlackBerry.
There is no truncation of emails on Android as opposed to BlackBerry. No more annoying "view more" as on BB devices.
Full HTML email with the option to automatically Always View embedded images from selected contacts is a great feature of email on Android. I can finally click on links in my email and actually go to the website, account, etc. Partly because of the flash browser, and because the browser renders pages computer-like.
The ability to sync with my gmail, as in, I can view all emails on my gmail account old, new, saved. They all were synced when I entered my gmail address.
With BlackBerry you get emails going forward of activation but you can't get your entire email inbox, including all labels.
Functionally, email for Android when using gmail offers more than blackBerry. Adding attachments such as pictures, audio and video is quicker and more intuitive.
Visually, it just looks better. More like you see email on a computer.
I only have experience with gmail.

The HTC Mail app is rather magnificent. You'll like it. And the stock Gmail app works really well as well.
Edit: Why not get the Sensation/Sensation XE/Amaze (when it comes out in the UK) over the Desire S? Pretty much better in every aspect.

And also customizeable email widgets.

K9, gmail app, stock mail app, etc are generally faster and better imo (obvious problem with gmail app being that it only supports gmail).

Guess you haven't used the Sense 3.0 email app. It's quite nice.

it is a mixed bag with me. I like being able to read full email as BB truncates their email and is like WTF. ..but they are no question faster. That is just me experience.
Sometimes my Android shocks me and it will be right away, other times it is 20 minutes behind and or way beyond that and I have it set up to check every 20 minutes....not sure why it does it like that, but it does with me.
I don't rely on email though, so not a huge ordeal.
