Default Does Android Need To Be Rebooted After App Install?

My Storm 2 takes 12-14 minutes to reboot, making me wary of installing new apps and app updates. How does Android handle this?

you don't need to reboot after an app install or uninstall . The nice thing with Android is once the battery installed, you can pretty much forget about it. I dont remember what mine looks like ;-)

With softare updates (done OTA), generally the phone will reboot itself..but most of the Androids nowadays take about 1min or less to reboot (some even quicker with custom ROM's and whatnot).

I still do battery pulls (not daily..but frequently)..but this is because i'm constantly mucking around with my phone with hacks and whatnot..so sometimes reboots are necessary. It doesn't bother me in the least though..because 40 seconds vs 10 minutes is nothing imo.

I have never done a pull. I do an automatic reboot weekly via a backup app I use, but I have never had to reboot after an app install or deletion.

The practical use is that you can download apps as needed, and delete when done. On BB, even if I used an app rarely, it was easier to just leave it installed because of the effort involved in removing it and then re-installing when I did need it. Thus, I wasted device space with apps needed rarely.

The power button on an most Android Devices is equivalent to a Battery Pull.
Unlike a BB. When an Android device is off/power down; it is actually off.
Unless the phone is frozen and you cannot power down, then and only then should it be necessary to do a Battery Pull.

My Thunderbolt takes less than 1 min to reboot. I hated battery pulls on my Curve because they were between 5-10 mins long. This is something that is not an issue with Android. :-)

Only time I had to do a BP was due to my phone for some odd reason freezing while watching a YouTube video. I have never pulled the battery since then. I do every few days power it down then back on to clear some stuff out. Seems to run smoother.

Also nice as it only takes a little over a minute to reboot.
