Cobra to Launch iRadar for Android - autoevolution

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which takes place in January next year in Las Vegas is the venue of choice for radar detection devices manufacturer Cobra to present the iRadar system for the Android smartphone.

Legal or not in your region, the system is capable of detecting radar, laser guns, speed and red light cameras or, as Cobra likes to call these law enforcement devices, pretty much all the hazards to the well being of your bank account. The driver is alerted with the help of a series of alerts emitted by the system which connects the smartphone to the radar though Bluetooth.

The iRadar version for the iPhone and iPod Touch has been launched last month and already earned its fair share of recognition. The system has been named on the 2011 CES Innovations Award Honoree list and received three awards at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

"We are very excited to make the Cobra iRadar system available to Android users, who now represent over one-third of the smartphone market," said Sally Washlow, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics.

More details on the system created for Android will be revealed at the CES show. The app itself will however contain the handy AURA Camera and Driving Hazard Database, an application which knows by heart where the danger lurks.

The price for the Android system will be set by Cobra at $169.95. The AURA database will be available for free from the Android Market. Sales are expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.

Honestly folks, take the people's opinion above. Don't wast your money on any
Radar Detector unless it has Valentine's name on it. It is absolutey the best radar detector made.

I have an Escort, I would go so far as to say dont buy anything but a Val. Escort still makes quite the detector.

Time to resurrect a dead thread.
I recently installed the iradar app on a Z10 with 10.2.1, and it works. Has anyone had success pairing with an actual device?
