Default Clearing Gmail in favour of htc mail app

Right now I have forwarded all my email accounts to gmail, and set up gmail as exchange activesync within the htc mail app. Can i delete everything from the gmail app so only the htc mail app would receive emails? if so how do i clear the gmail app? Sorry if any of these questions are simple to answer, i am fairly new to the android OS.

That's not really the best setup to receive your emails in a timely manner. When I used the stock HTC mail app it could take a couple hours to get my emails even though I had the fetching interval set to 15 mins. You'd be better off using the gmail app for that set up. However, you can't send any attachment other than pics from the gmail app. You might try mail droid or k9 instead. Then once you have that set up just disable notifications from the gmail app.

You can just disable the gmail sync for your accounts in the Accounts & Sync

i was able to set the interval to "as items arrive", basically push mail. i just set up the gmail account in activesync so it would be push in what i find to be a better formatted app

Just turn off gmail sync under accounts and clear the data from the gmail app. It won't affect HTC Mail.

You didn't set them up as Exchange. They push as Exchange accounts.

I hate the gmail app because of how it randomly caches/uncaches emails...

When I was traveling it would randomly lose the email content for stuff like my flight info that was near the top of my recent emails and I couldn't use my data plan due to international roaming...

i just prefer the layout of the htc mail, seems like a cleaner and overall better design to me compared to the gmail app

If you only have one gmail account setup as exchange then it's going to reply using your exchange account.

You're just forwarding the other accounts to the gmail right, so it's not going to use the original accounts for the reply.
