- Since everyone is jumping ships... I thought I would get prepared after the earnings call of blackberry today... Looks like I'm more likely to move now plus I don't see the app gap being fixed asap...
Anyway the main question is on my bb data I pay for 100mb only and I struggle to use 5mb of that each month... I've heard its because its super compressed and that 100mb won't be no where near enough for an android phone and 100 will probably be used in a day.. What's the reason android uses so much data ?? And if I'm only using whatsapp and email mostly will I still need more than 100mb data...?? How much do you use on average a month and what is it used on ??

That being said, you will likely use a great deal more data with android. There are back end google services that will use data along with certain apps that you may choose to have.
Most of the increase will come from the ease of using media.03-29-12 09:52 PMLike 0 - I doubt there is a huge difference regarding whatsapp and email although your email will not be truncated and they will be received as they would appear on a desktop.

Can these google services be turned off or are they all needed ?? ...

You will definitely won't to up your data. I would at least go for 1g plan.
I used 1.2G in one day this past week. Streamed a couple movies and BT music at the gym and car off Pandora. I have a 5G plan though. I was shocked when I checked my myaccount page. Crazy!
I never went over 700mb off my BB and did a lot of browsing and whatnot.

Anyway I won't be streaming music or watching any movies on it... I will just mainly be using whatsapp, email and browsing... That being said surely I won't need more than a 500mb plan just to be safe

- I think 500 mb should be enough for me .
The things you people are listing like streaming and stuff I never do anyway...

If you have to increase your plan then do it, if you don't, great! But once you see how media friendly the phone is, I'm sure you'll be wanting more and more...03-30-12 10:37 PMLike 0

Yeh I get you... But for a few months I'm working from home so wifi should suffice... Until my upgrade in July then ill probably up it03-30-12 10:58 PMLike 0 - You should be good with a 500MB plan. I don't think a 2 GB plan costs much more than a 500MB one though, so it wouldn't be a bad idea getting that.03-31-12 12:30 AMLike 0

Yeh I just found out that my carrier doesn't charge if you over your allowance they just cap ur speeds... So it makes sense to try 100mb first..03-31-12 08:05 AMLike 0 -
- You have to be a little careful though. Say you wipe your phone and reload the os (if you load any new rom). Once you restore your google account a lot of them will start auto downloading all of your apps again. It's not like it checks if you are on wifi first.04-02-12 02:12 PMLike 0

Ok first of all what is a rom lol ?... Is it rooting or hacking the device because I won't be doing that at the moment... I'm working from home so it will always be connected to wifi for 99% of the time ...04-02-12 03:58 PMLike 0 -
Hmm so how does os versions work on android... Is it safe to install leaks if there are any ??... Do OTA updates come from the carrier ??..04-02-12 04:38 PMLike 0 -
