Am I the only one who hates Android with a burning passion?
I really want to know if I'm crazy or not

I seem to hate android for the following reasons:
-OS is really sluggish
-OS is ugly
-Phones are ugly
-the browsers are pretty bad
-apps crash like crazy
I played with my friends' android phones..HTC EVO 3D, SGS2,SG Ace, Galaxy TAB (Not a phone but still an android..)
The instability of the applications managed to drive me crazy..Sure there are apps crashing on some BB too but my browser never crashed while browsing crackberry...Neither did the Y! Messenger app.
The "Force Close/Report" error is the most annoying thing that has been invented - it's like the BSOD of android apps. Are all android devices like that or am I some unfortunate fellow?
Please note I'm not a BB Fanboy because, even though I love my blackberries, I enjoy playing with some iOS devices once in a while. Cool toys they have. - 05-15-2012, 07:13 AM #2
Don't know about Android devices, but most of the problems you describe are evident in Android apps on the Playbook. I don't know if it's just the Adroid runtime in Playbook or if it's Android itself that's the problem. I use converted Android apps on the Playbook only as a last resort.

HATE, is such a strong word, ......I just like BlackBerry devices better for what I use a communication/tablet for.

I don't care for android. Just a personal thing, used it enough to know I don't like it but not enough to know if apps do this a lot or not.

I'm surprised you experienced that on a SGSII. I haven't had any of those issues on my Galaxy Note.
I had an infuse once that the first one I got had a ton of problems. I exchanged it for another and no issues after that. - 05-15-2012, 07:39 AM #6
Hate is such a strong word to be using. Haha. I do understand why people like android. I understand its appeal. But personally it just doesn't interest me at all. I dont hate it, but i dont really like it either. Somehow it feels like the os is not optimised. They need massively powerful hardware in order to provide a smooth and fluid user interface. Whereas the other platforms seem to be able to achieve smoothness even with single core. When a phone pique my interest, I will give it a try. I just like mobile tech. Just like how I am on a windows phone now.
but i am unwilling to use an android as my daily driver.

I have had several android devices and never really had issues with them. I am back to blackberry for the simplicity of the device. I find most frustrated users don't understand how the devices really work.

Androids weakness is that few of them hit their full potential out of the box. If you get into the rooting scene they can be made to be quite beastly.
My rooted 1 year old Atrix is scoring better than a new unrooted g nexus on html5 tests for example. As for crashes, people who choose their apps wisely don't encounter many probsCarrier controlled updates is the worst smartphone spec of them all

Burning hate for Apple
I personally hate Apple. All my friends that hated Microsoft in the windows98 days who pushed linux are now Apple fanatics. They poked fun that Microsoft was greedy and used "M$" when referring to Microsoft. At that time the linux desktop was a complete waste of time. You had to spend your days configuring it with command lin scrips, etc... Linux as a desktop obviously failed, even Mr. Shuttleworth gave up on Ubuntu and lost a fortune on his push. These same people jumped to Apple as the Alternative. "It just works" but you can't even play games on it.
Apple is way more greedy that Microsoft ever was. Imagine if Microsoft demanded 30% cut for every application you installed on your computer that wasn't even written by Microsoft. Oh, Adobe Premier installed? costs $300, let us have 90$ from that.
Now Rim and others are doing the same but only because Apple got away with it.
Occupy Flash movement?? Only non-techie Apple hipsters can dream that up!
Need to use iTunes to load a ringtone?? Really?
What's with the linups? You can come in at 11:00 am and get your phone without waiting in lines you dorks. BB people don't do that because we have jobs and do these things on our breaks!
As for Android, I hate the UI but the samsung phones and screens are admittedly gorgeous.
BB10 will do just fine because people who left BB really miss some of the features like BBM and amazing push. - 05-15-2012, 08:08 AM #10
