After rooting, how did you get rid of all the bloatware?

You have to go to your /system/app folder and delete/rename the bloatware apks so they do not appear. I would suggest searching a dedicated Android forum like xda, droidforums, androidforums, cyanogen and others that have information about the specific device you are using.

Renaming the apk to bak is preferrable, so you can easily rename it back to restore the app, should the need ever arise.

I wouldn't bother renaming them the object is to get rid of them once and for all. The Easiest way is if you have Titanium backup installed on your device, Open up TB, go to apps and just delete them from there.

I didn't want to do a lot of work, so I downloaded a ROM that had most/all of the bloat taken off.

Best way to rid your G2 of all bloat is to download rom manager from the market, create a backup, and load cyanogenmod 6.1. That would be my suggestion.

Titanium Pro can freeze it but it cost money. And you can unfreeze when your doing an update.

When I first got my G2... I temp rooted using Visionary... opened up a terminal emulator and ran the package manager commands to "disable" them by running:

    pm list packages

    reading the list then typing:

    pm disable PACKAGE NAME HERE

Of course this was before I knew about Titanium Backup
