Default Adroid Security Problems

I guess we should be glad that so far Blackberries are relatively secure.

Android mobile users facing increased security risks, security provider warns

Speculation from a security company about Android being targeted because they are number one... Sounds like someone want to sell a security solution.

no doubt, but android is also most vulnerable and most ubiquitous device software...

android is innovative but it is inconsistent. you can't be sure that you will get the emails (until manually refreshing) or whether you can get thru the day without recharging or shutting down connections etc. and then the drive to find rogue apps who drains your battery..monitoring..etc..it never ends.

BB has the same issue, possibly even worse because it doesn't try to manage apps that lock up too many resources.

Also if you run rooted you can alter the memory management and thresholds, whereas on BB you can do nothing.

Nothing a good wipe and reinstall can't fix. Reinstallation is a breeze, anyways.

I must be doing something wrong.

My phone hasn't been hacked and I'm getting my emails with no issues. My phone doesn't lag or freeze and I don't have a single fart app installed.

Should I be worried. HELP!

It did end... over a couple years ago.

Yes, Android is the most vulnerable platform. Yes, I've been involved in spear phishing attacks which have coincidentally (?) happened when I was running my Atrix. Yes, I have one annoying ad from somewhere letting me know that I've "won an iPad, follow this link to claim it." This ad shows up ever morning on my Atrix. Strangely, it hasn't shown up on my Skyrocket and it never shows up on my BB.
That said....I am now a completely dual carrier, dual platform user. I've got primarily Blackberries, which are my first love and which are my daily drivers, and now I've got an Atrix and a kicka$$ Skyrocket which I'm LOVING. My precautions: I'm only downloading well known apps from well trusted sources....basic apps. DC Metro which I've used before, weather app, Google Maps, Latitude, FB.....basic things. Do I trust the platform enough to run banking apps on it? Absolutely not. I won't forget those spear phishing incidents. But I am careful as to how I use my Skyrocket and I'm enjoying the h3ll out of it.
As far as timeouts, lag, freezing....I encountered some of that on my Atrix when I first started using it. Then I stopped using Motoblur and began using Launcher Pro and the device was acting like a new device. I've encountered no such problem with my Skyrocket.
Frankly.....*the* only flaw that I have found on my Skyrocket is the abysmal battery life. But that I knew going in. On my recent trip to Greer SC I had a car charger and a desk charger and I looked like an id1ot trying to find a plug all over the place....I was the person I can't stand, always looking for a power source. But I always had my trusted, trusty BBerries so the Skyrocket was an addition, not a primary device.

Now.....I *railed* against Android. I said I *hated* the platform. I said I *hated* the users. Well, an experiment and an open mind led me to confirm for myself those things that bothered me about the platform, its vulnerabilities, and discover its many strengths. Very few things in the world are absolutes. It's been said many times, but all platforms have their strengths and weaknesses. Users have to know how to work them.

All that said....I will trust and use my BBerries until they no longer exist if they continue to do what I want them to do in the manner I want. They are my preferred platform. But an open mind has led me to a fun new platform. And although I don't love it or trust it the same way I love and trust my BBerries, I'm enjoying the living daylights out of it.

One platform I just can't like no matter how much I've tried....iOS. Not for me.
