(edit): So I've actually tested A LOT of different apps regarding this and finally come to the conclusion that the "PAID" ($10 @Play store) version of BIG LAUNCHER is the best option for my dad's needs for Homescreen simplicity. The only thing it doesn't have is a simple Call Answering screen (preferably swipe up).

Any recommendations? PREFERABLY customizable because all my father wants to do is make calls.

I just want him to have access to his call history, contacts, and dialer, so a launcher with just those 3 options on the front with GIANT Colored buttons would be GREAT!

I, personally love the "look" of Wiser. but it is not customizable (to my knowledge).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

1. Just put a non-distracting wallpaper.
2. Download a Call history app from Play Store
3. Move the Contact and Phone icons into a vertical line with your Call history app.

Should be easy enough to find them that way, without getting a launcher.

Good news! After doing A LOT of research! (past week, just decided to post about it yesterday.. lol) i came across SENIOR HOMESCREEN.

SENIOR HOMESCREEN is exactly what I was looking for!

one screen, 6 Large customizable buttons that are color-coded.

I gave my Dtek50 to my parents as a present, as they wanted to have whatsapp

Then I loaded 'phonotto' from google playstore onto it, but now main problem seems to be to have an easy on/off function for wifi...

if it wasn't for the subscription model, this looks like it would be PERFECT! the biggest thing I need is to make the incoming call screen more simple--which phonotto has.

SENIOR HOMESCREEN is a one-time purchase of $1.49 to remove ads (after 30day trial). that is much more reasonable and all features are present throughout the free and pro version, however it does not change the incoming call screen.

Just updating this thread to mention at app that I found to be VERY suitable for my needs for a simple home screen for my dad.

the Paid version of BIG Launcher ($10 on Play Store) is the best option I've seen so far. The Demo version is too limiting to really get the feel of the app.

it allows you to lock the preferences and settings screens with a password of your choosing.. couple that with an applock (i'm using the ad-free Norton AppLock) to lock the rest of the apps he won't be using, remove some settings options out of the notification drop down panel via built-in System UI Tuner, and you basically have the perfect Simple Senior Phone!
