Is there a working version of the Groupon app? I tried loading the android version from amazon app store but it keeps crashing.

Is there a way to install the PlayBook app on the z10?

Hmm, my wife had it downloaded, but not installed on her Z10. I just installed and it's stuck on a "Get Google Play services" screen. No thanks.

This was downloaded from 1Mobile probably.

    No idea, sorry!

You need to install both Google Play Store and Google Play services for Groupon to run.

Groupon uses Google Location Services that is part of the PlayStore to send you notifications of Groupon deals near you for instance. BB10 doesn't have Playstore so end of story. Probably the same for many shopping/deal type apps.

You need to strip the Google dependencies and "patch" the APK with Cobalt232's tool. It can be found here: http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=914930

Since I've already stripped and patched the Groupon APK with Cobalt232 tool, Here are the steps to get it to work.

    1. Make sure you have 10.2.1 OS on your phone.

    2. Install the Google Play settings apk patched by Cobalt232: https://app.box.com/s/8rpuc5gx2pwvw6qmvkdw just install, don't run it.

    3. Install this Groupon apk: https://app.box.com/s/7uytctjq0yahyk30ydyf

    4. After installation run Groupon app.

    5. Thank Cobalt232 for making The process simple and painless.

Thank you for the detailed steps. I will give this a try.

Regarding the app itself, why didn't they just allow the user to type in their location and provide deals that way instead of scanning your location through Google location services?

Magical! It works! I have been trying to make these apps work properly by just installing patched Google Play Settings APK but have been unsuccessful until now.
It's not that Groupon app is extremely essential, because their website is actually pretty good, and you don't have to share your location or all that other stuff, but it's really nice to see a solution.

    Questions:
    1) Is it possible to disable permissions while patching?
    2) Did you already pre-patch any other apps that otherwise won't run on 10.2.1?

    I will try Yelp now.

Download and use 'Apk Permission Remover' from Play Stores. Use it to remove permissions from any apk, before or after patching them.

Edit: note that removing certain permission from some apps may cause the app to misbehave.

Does this work on BB10, or do we need to remove permissions on an Android device? It would be really good if we could actually do this on PC instead of having transfer back and forth, but surely it is better than nothing.
    Thanks!!

Is this the same app you are referring to?

    Thanks!

Edit: I am getting "Must allow installation of non-market applications" followed by "The requested setting is not supported by this Blackberry device"
