Even though I'm logged out from Wechat on iOS, it constantly says " Your account is logged in at another location".

That seems to be working on my Z10, thanks! I will report back if the battery takes a big hit.
It's version Android version 4.0, sideloaded, not integrated in the hub, but otherwise seems to be functioning as expected.

Interesting, I could not get any of the existing converted BARs working before. Just tried it and it works well, not too laggy for an Android port. No video chat though, I suspect that has to do with the older version not having that feature.

Just FYI, it does seem like they're working on an official app as well for BB10. Not sure if it will be ported or native yet. Hopefully it is the latter.

Great news indeed...
Wechat is a definitely a hit in south east Asia countries and soon will be the world too..

Even now I get almost daily notifications of my friends installing wechat in their devices...
The only setback is my bare bone wechat made for bbos 6. Compared to my friends androids versions.
Hope by the time I get my hands on the Z10, the app is ready for me to download. And a native version too... Wow..

Wechat is produced by China's Internet giant QQ. Despite Z10 not officially launched yet in China, some Chinese companies are already making native Z10 apps,ported their Android apps or have plan to support native apps for Z10. I am not referring to low quality port by individual or small time deveopers, but high quality ones by big Chinese Internet companies. Their mentality is they will make apps for all platforms including BlackBerry and windows even if these OS user base is really tiny. Their goal is to cater to every kind of smartphone users. This is in contrast to some complacent western developers who would only make apps for leading OS ie apple and android.

I keep getting a notification to upgrade. I'm guessing that trying to do that with a sideloaded app is rather pointless?

i tried the same.

logged out existing account and tried to log it, but didnt work.

surprisingly. i used a VERY OLD account of mine, didnt have the password on hand and sent it to the mobilenumber.
it got the verification code sent by sms and after typing it in manually was logged in.

it works quite well for a sideloaded app...
