Its because you need to actually sign the BAR files! There are a few tutorials on how to use the BBH tool. Its fairly complex because you have to build your key store file which encompasses 5 or 6 different command line operations and getting a developer key from RIM. I could get the boys at the website to help, but it is fairly complex. I figure we would stick to us coverting all the apps, because we have a solid pipeline and just empower you guys with the ability to side load them in.

That's what i like to hear and why we make video tutorials! So many of the written guides are all convoluted or confusing. Most people are visual in nature so vid tutorials often help more then the written ones for a large segment of the population!

I've gotten as far as connecting the playbook to DDPB. For some reason when I go to add the .bar in DDPB I can't get to my playbook root directory. I can bring it up just fine in "My Computer" and can see the .bar but can't get it to show up in DDPB. I can get the playbook to show up under "Network" but when I navigate thru DDPB it just shows two folders called "cert" and "media" and these ask for a username and password which I don't know.

I thought I had read that ddpb could alternately be used over the wifi, thereby dispensing with the usb cable but I might have misunderstood. Can installation occur over wifi?

    Thanks for the tutorial.

edited to add: Yes, it can be done via wifi (skip the archaic usb cable)

From another thread I copied this (apologies to the orig poster)

Yeah, It works just fine.... Even I am doing it for a while now...

    These are the steps :
    1. Put PB in Developer Mode.
    2. Find IP Address of the Playbook (not the one stated in Developer Mode starting with 169.254.x.x - I simply go to Settings -> about - > network and find IPv4 Address )
    3. Open DDPB installer, add files, check the ones you want to Install
    4. Enter Playbook's IP address & Password
    5. Click on Install....
    6. Enjoy

(Make sure your PC and PB are on the SAME NETWORK, Best way to Check this is By going to Network and Sharing Center and Checking Devices on Current Network, you should see PB Listed there)

The username is generally "playbook" without the quotes. If you have not set up a password than it may not need one. You can see its username someone under the pb Gear\options.

Then you would look under media for downloads. Frankly, I download bar files to my computer and search it using ddpb and load - works just as well.
