Paid for Apps
Hi all,
I've done the sideloading of Apps but what I'd like to know is, can I get an App that I paid for on an Android tablet to sideload on the Playbook?
Thanks

Yes it is possible. You'd have to extract the .apk file from your Android device and convert it to a .bar file to sideload onto the PlayBook. Whether or not it will work depends on if it uses native Android library's or not. There is no guarantee that it will work though.

Re: Paid for Apps
It also depends on how the paid app is unlocked. If its the kind with a special "full version" .apk it often works. But if it is one of the limited version types that uses a separate tiny "unlocker" .apk my experience has been that most (but not all) of those can't be converted to .bar (the converter complains that widgets and keyboards cannot be converted).

Hi,
I don't have the android tablet any more as it got sold, the app was 'splashtop' I found it the best app to remotely control my PC.
Thanks again - 12-10-2012, 03:01 PM #5
There is a native Splashtop app available in app world.
