guys, anyone else noticed that some sideloaded android apps no longer detect wifi after latest os update? I've found this with nook, cnn, few others as well.

any ideas on how to resolve?

Did you remove-reboot-reinstall app, or heavens forbid, wipe-reinstall.

These are no solutions, per se, just wanted to know if RIM is slowly crippling the android player, or these are per app issues. I am never a brand loyalist but a function loyalist.

For now all my sideloaded apps do access wifi, after last week's update (2.1.0.1314)

RIM is NOT crippling the Android player. The Android player will be updated before it will be pulled.

Nice to hear some people's apps are working, but doesn't answer the issue being seen - particularly (for example) when CNN used to work fine. 3D Camera also does this - just states it cannot connect to server. I can only presume that for certain apps it just doesn't connect to the wifi for some unknown reason. Definitely not the Android player overall - for example the CB Forum app is a conversion of an Android app & works fine.

Would love to know though...it is strange!

Short of wipe, you may also do the three button reboot. Sometimes three or four reboots " fixes" installed android apps, as per forum responses over the past 1+ years.

Also post the apps if free, and one of us may install to confirm your predicament.

Just sideloaded CNN from goodereader. Works fine, latest news is there and currently watching one of their vids.

Ok strange...did the 3 finger salute & CNN working again. Al Jaz (native) still won't. Oh well, thanks for the suggestions peeps. I'll bare this in mind for the future.
