When will alltel stores be officially changed to VZW?

Billing conversion is set for the weekend of October 17th . Between now and then, your local corporate Alltel store is moving out by WalMart... and it should be obvious what's gone on there - the Alltel banners will come down in October.

Those of us in divested markets going to ATT will get to enjoy Tad & co. awhile longer

wonder if they'll "disappear" the ATT dude like the way they did with the vzw guy when vzw finalized its buyout --oops, I mean merger -- of Alltel?

My Contract is up w/ Alltel on Oct. 7. Will anything change between then and Oct 1. as far as my plan and/or phones go?

Nothing will change.

In the long run, I think you'll be better off to wait until after billing conversion and the Alltel banners come off the signs, and re-up with VZW phones and a VZW plan.

Odd, pretty much all of the Alltel stores here either closed or changed to Verizon Wireless already. I used to roam in Orlando, and now I don't, so I think I have a Verizon PRL as well, 40053 is the one. my only beef so far is the new customer service, it's sucks. Longer wait times and they're not as helpful or as friendly as the Alltel reps were.

Here in Iowa, billing conversion is in October, and the stores will be rebranded.

Well according to alltel in Nebraska it won't take place until next year.

I thought the absolute deadline was mid-october.

Anybody confirm it either way?

Here in Dodge City, KS the Verizon store looks finished and is waiting for the conversion to take place. The local Alltel store is located blocks away, in another shopping center, so I am assuming it will just close down when the switch over occurs.

My contract with Alltel is now up as of Aug. 17. I am just waiting to re-up when Verizon opens here to get a Vzn branded phone.

Billing conversion is the Weekend of October 17th... after that, the only Alltel branded stores left will be divested. The network however, is another story. In a logical sense, it's operating as one - in a physical sense - some things will take until sometime into 2010 to complete all the work that needs to be done.

my wife and i have 2 blackberry thru alltel and are in contact untill july 2010. after the merger is complete in october will we be able to get new discounted (with new 2 year contract) phones thru verizon without the ETF? also it seems kinda odd that the merger is complete when the storm 2 is rumored to appear....

Your upgrade date won't change... You can go buy a Verizon phone... But it'll be at full retail...

If you want to get into a new Verizon smartphone, it might serve you well to go ahead and get under contract with Alltel as it looks like the prices maybe lower than the Verizon ones, if not you can always change your plan. You have 15 - 30 days to trade in your phone if you don't like it. It would sort of work out to be the best of both worlds.
