Exclamation Verizon phone with Alltel settings after merge

I was not sure where I should place this thread and how to title it, but here goes ...

I have a Verizon Tour that I currently have changed the ##000000 setting on in order to get it to work on my Alltel plan. I also changed the settings to get EVDO working as well.

http://forums.crackberry.com/f72/sto...ltel-d-118342/
(I followed the above instructions for the Storm, just did it with my Tour).

My question is that when the transition from Alltel to Verizon becomes final in my area (October 17), will I have to go back into my Tour and change all the settings back to the original Verizon or will that be done automatically? Is there any need to make those changes when the change is made from Alltel to Verizon? Will I lose any functionality by having the Alltel settings on a Verizon Tour phone?

I did a search on the forums, but I was not sure what it would be under and the few searches I did, did not return any answers.

Thanks in advance for any and all help and I love this site!! (even though my wife might think I spend a little bit TOO much time here on my Tour

What will happen is your phone will show up as an Alltel BlackBerry Pearl or Curve. The Tour should have never been activated in the Alltel billing, but since it doesn't know any better it isn't a problem getting someone to do it.

You can keep your current settings, but I would recommend calling into tech to have them submit a DMD (Device Management Database) correction form. The DMD form will correct the equipment model in billing and will allow for VZW features to be added. You will then have to correct your programming back to factory settings.

The DMD form isn't required actually - you can keep your settings now, but I would strongly recommend having it corrected to avoid future problems.

Thanks, exactly the answer I was looking for. Luckily I kept the photos I took of my Tour settings before I changed them (but I might need to find out how to change things back from the Alltel EDVO settings to Verizon).

If anyone happens to know how to get that done, it would be appreciated!!

Thanks again!!

You should be able to follow the directions you previously used to get to where you are, using the settings you took the photos of.

Thanks! I will try it when the change is made and post the results here for others to use (if needed). I will be out of town the weekend it happens, so I am hoping that I can get it done when I am on the road (or just wait till I get back home).

Thanks again everyone!

Ok, I am able to login to verizon.com (http://forums.crackberry.com/f72/abl...on-com-340029/) and it shows my Tour and my wife's phone as well, so I don't think I need to do DMD.

In addition, I have been able to get updates and txt msg from Verizon as well. I have not restored my factory verizon stuff on my Tour as everything works.

Thanks again everyone for the input and for the suggestions!

Well that's good it is showing up as a Tour. Just correct your settings back to VZW and see if it works.

Your text will still route through Alltel's SMSC regardless of phone or plan at this time.

I have had a similar situation with my Storm. Unfortunately, I do not have the original information to change my phone back to verizon settings. Does anyone have this information available of what I need to change back too?
