Default Upgrade and switch to Verizon

I called Verizon to ask a question and was told that I was eligible to upgrade early providing I did it on-line only. My "real" upgrade date is not until June 2010 and feel it's much better to touch and feel the equipment.

I have an Altell 8830WE and have not had any issues but I'm seriously considering getting the Tour when I switch.

Any thoughts?

Kevin

I used to have an 8830 (until I got my Storm) and I loved it. But I'd trade it for a Tour in a heartbeat. My mom and my brother just got them and from the few mintues I've spent playing around on them I can tell you that you won't regret the move.

you could always got to a verizon store and play with the phone before you buy it online. make sure you take a look at the plan that you will be changing to as opposed to your alltel plan to see what you will be losing. Good Luck!

So how can you upgrade early online? I tried that and they said my upgrade date was Nov 2009

Be careful. They may try and put you on an VZW plan.
If it's anything like the "smartchoice pack" like I have you want to keep that as it is. You can get the Tour at the contract price and extend your Alltel plan. I want to physically talk to a rep. and see that they NOT change my Alltel plan.

It actually turns out to be cheaper in the long run with 1400 min vice 1200 cause adding a phone is $10 vice All tel of $20.

I thought the same thing with the upgrade, when we first switched it said I had to wait for an upgrade (switch to VOW). I didn't have to do anything and either way my signal sucks now that it switch off the All tel tower or what ever.

I've done the PERL updates and still get dropped calls or incomplete ones even when I'm not moving.
