I said it in the other Tour thread, but I'll drop it here too for the Alltel crackberry deal hunters. When I called customer service I was able to match the online offer of $149 after $100 mail in rebate with free Bluetooth.

The rep couldn't find anything about the free Bluetooth, but just tell them you saw it on the Tour details page on the main alltel.com site, not shopalltel.com, and it should get taken care of.

Got mine around 2pm today.
I paid full price as I couldn't upgrade yet

The Alltel store I got it at won't activate it as they were worried because drove over from the Verizion side of the line.

When I called Alltel to activate they didn't believe me there was a Alltel TOUR
I was on the line while CHRIS told all the other fellow workers they all had questions of course I couldn't answer

Wow.. sounds like you got unlucky twice. The CS rep I talked to knew all about it, said he was jealous my renewal time lined up with the release.

I couldn't renew online because my billing address is in Verizon area, but there was no problem with the rep.

Did you end up getting it activated?

I wasn't due to renew until Dec 10
Yes I got it activated it too so long as they were walking through slowly as they never did one on Alltel. I just need to get my contacts off my 8830 and get them onto the 9630.

And yes I am in the Verizon billing area that is why I drove 15 miles to my West as they are not.

Got the new tour today for free because I had problems with all four of the curves that were sent by xbm and it is working better than any of the curves that I had received fells good to be in a divested market

Funny you mention that , I just received my 3rd replaced 8830 on Saturday
I asked if I could hold off for the Tour but was told they weren't getting them.

It doesn't matter , I am just glad I could get the Tour so it didn't matter but after I got home I see that if I bought it online it would have been about
$105 cheaper

To those of you who extended your contract to get the Alltel Tour, were you really able to get the 2-year contract price on a 1-year upgrade to the Tour? If so, that is awesome!!!

I checked it out today at my local Alltel store, I like it a lot! Not used to seeing that much free memory in the status menu. I played with it for a few minutes and the keys are a bit odd but I got used to it quickly, I need a full keyboard for sure!

According to my account access online I am eligible for upgrade in late Sept. but the store rep said she could arrange it now if I really wanted it. I am the first person to even ask about the phone she said (I'm in a very rural area) and she wanted to sell one I guess.

Anyway, in a RARE moment of self control, I said I'd wait until next month as I want some feedback on the Alltel versions that are already being used by forum members. Besides, I just bought new rear suspension for my motorcycle and could stand a bit of financial recovery.

So at least one more month with the Pearl....

How'd the trackball roll? Smooth? Any lag? And did you notice any rippling of the screen when you were pushing buttons? Sorry about the questions.. I bring paranoia from reading the Tour boards.

Yeah, I was out of contract and renewed for another year. In my opinion, it is a really great deal to be able to get the Tour at a 2 year price, but only be under a 1 year contract. Would be crazy to pass that up

Trackball seemed fine to me. Ripples were non-existent as far as I could tell, the battery door did move very slightly but much less than my pearl does. I understand your paranoia, I have been burned on new products in the past that were much more expensive
(hello redesigned 2007 Jeep wrangler/nightmare) so I try to be more cautious even on small stuff now.

As I said previously, the buttons struck me as odd at first but weren't difficult to get used to. I thought it felt like a pretty solid phone in the hand, more substantial than the lil pearl anyway.

I went to two Alltel/Verizon stores today just to find out if there was a way for me to get the Tour since we haven't offically become Verizon yet. I don't believe that is supposed to happen until Fall. In both stores the CSRs looked at me like I had three heads. They had no idea there was such a creature as an Alltel Tour. Then when I got home I called #611 and the person I spoke to on the phone said there was no Alltel Tour. Its frustrating. I'm still an Alltel customer so I should be able to get an Alltel phone!

Yes I am an Alltel Customer and the CSR's I talk to tell me that the Tour does not exist for Alltel just Verizon and they are telling me only Verizon has them so I don't know what is going on but even supervisors for Alltel are saying the same thing.
