Its really starting to happen. I went into my local Alltel corporate store yesterday and discovered its morphing into Verizon. The main sign outside the store still says Alltel. The signs on the windows and inside the store have become Verizon. About 2/3 of the phones and displays are Verizon with only about 1/3 still Alltel. The rep told me that they are currently handling both Alltel and Verizon customers for everything including new accounts. From what she knew, the final phase of the transfer including the billing system would not be complete until sometime in September.

In a divested market here. Who knows who'll buy us MT/WY stepchildren...The few who know say it'll be Sprint or ATT. I think they say ATT because they're jonesing for an iPhone.

In the local paper there's been buried in the business section an AP item or two about the merger, but no mention of divestitures. Then again, the local rag is the last place to go for area news.

The local Alltel & VZW stores are doing business as usual. When I tell fellow alltel & vzw customers what's going on, it's the first they've heard of it. Most are none too happy about one, being left in the dark. Two, not a word said when signing up as a recent new customer. Three, they chose these carriers because they're the only two in MT with real nationwide 3G data plans.

I'm in Idaho and everything is still the same. They think the rebranding won't happen until late summer, early fall.

I live in NE its all still Alltell but you apply through Verizon for jobs. Its coming but slowly.

I still get a lick about how they were running commercials bashing the competition, and now they're owned by a competitor. I wonder how 'Chad' likes the unemployment line now?

It was actually kinda funny, at one of the "welcome to verizon" rallys i went to, there was a video of chad and the verizon guy walking together walking.

Made the whole room laugh and clap, mainly because it was just sweet as heck to see them together...

Must be an employee thing :P

We all got a laugh out of that too in the stores.

In my state where they run commercials, I am pretty sure since Christmas time, only 3 of the 4 guys are visible completely now, in the animated christmas one the guy in red (vzw) had a sweater and scarf on, not letting anyone see what company he represented.

Also in the more current ones, there is only 3 guys, or the 4th in no way is supposed to represent VZW.

I see all the commercials 20 times a day at work so I notice these things.

Chad and Test Man meeting and shaking hands was definitely worth a laugh!

Something tells me that Chad, though more than likely unemployed quite soon, won't be too sad as the severance package he'll be getting should be outstanding.

Chad was an actor before the Alltel commercial's and I'm sure once he's done w/ them (I'm sure there's some type of content clause in his contract w/ Alltel) he'll move on to acting again in outside stuff.

Not to mention it's always possible he'll stay around for quite a while w/ Verizon (or whomever buys the Alltel properties).

Well, their commercials are somewhat more interesting than Verizon's. Although some Dead Zone commercials aren't bad I guess.

I hope to see Chad in a red polo or he could be haning off a ladder with a hard hat on behind the test man.

I hope we keep Chad and we might because alot of the marketing people from Alltell have been given jobs at VZW.

And since the deal was announced I havent seen the VZW guy in any of the alltel commercials.

Virginia should be fully integrated by june 1st. I applied for a promotion in VA and had to interview with Alltel managers.
