Default Switching to Verizon early

I've been watching the Alltel/verizon threads closely and haven't really found an answer to my question. I live in Southwest, MN and the last I heard is we wouldn't be converting to Verizon until September or so. Now I really want the tour, and we have a family plan and neither line is under contract, we both have upgrades available. Now from what I've read it sounds like you can switch early if you are within 4 months of your contract end date, so this wouldn't be a problem for us. However, the Alltel market I am in is non devisested however the verizon customers are being sold to AT&T in my area as Alltel has the bigger market share. If I were to switch to Verizon now, would I risk being sold to AT&T in the future?

Thanks

Your best bet is to just call verizon and talk to telesales. It is different for every area. If the is a way they can sign you up, they will. If not, I do not believe it is a great conspiracy that so many people here, and on other forums have tried to create. I am in eastern ohio and switched to verizon on sundau. My phones come today PM me and I will forward you the contact for the very knowledgable telesales employee that helped me convert.

Wink Switching to Verizon Early

arhub, If you wait until late July you will be able to buy a Tour on you Alltel account. We should have it by July 25.

or

Call retention, tell them your phone is broken and you want to upgrade. they should drop your account to a much smaller amount of remaining days, like 7 for instance. Wait 7 days then go to a dual agent the closest in your area might be in the dakota's or twin city's and start a new Verizon contract.

Thanks for both of your reply's. I don't have a problem waiting until the end of July to get the Tour if that's all I have to do. So I will wait it out a bit longer and see, if I can't get a Tour in late July I will call up Verizon and see what can be done.

Thanks, I'll try and post back in this thread with my solution. My biggest thing is I am getting married August 1st and then going on a 2 week honeymoon and would like to use the Tour for paperless Geocaching while on our honeymoon to Yellowstone.

Thanks again

arhub...you shouldn't have to be worried about being sold to AT&T...

here in So Mn, you're correct, Alltel had the better assets...so VZW, being pretty on top of things...kept those assets in this area and dumped what they had which would be folks on unicel. no need to worry for you!

hope that helps! and good luck and congrats!

I know I should be ok, I'm just a little paranoid is all. After double checking this page on the Verizon website, it appears I should be ok.

Verizon Business News: Verizon Wireless Completes Purchase of Alltel; Creates Nation's Largest Wireless Carrier

I live in Granite Falls which technically resides in both Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties, I live on the Yellow Medicine side of Granite. After looking at that page it indicates, that Unicell properties will be sold in Yellow Medicine county and Verizon Wireless properties will be sold in Chippewa county, so I should be fine .
