smartchoice plans and roaming

Logged onto my verizon acct and noticed under plan details that I was on a pay per use roaming. My plan is now the smartchoice 1200.


Are the smartchoice plans not nationwide? Vzw rep says otherwise and of course I can not call alltel any more. The area in question is florida, my wife is going there next week and need to know before she runs a roaming bill sky high not knowing.

if you are on a smartchoice plan (which you should be if you have a blackberry on the account) you are covered under the national freedom coverage area so you should be good. the way you can tell if you are getting charged for roaming is if you can't access data on your phone.

but as long as you changed it to a smartchoice, or an e-mail plan with vzw, you should be good to go

I'm on a smartchoice and have never been charged for roaming.

You should be fine roaming in Florida with your BB. Check your PRL. If it is 40051, you will only see the roaming indicator if the call will cost you.

you'll see the roaming indicator but you won't be charged...when you go out of your home area and switch towers your phone will register that it is roaming but you won't be charged for it...with feature phones and some smart phones the indicator blinks...that's a good sign...with BB it doesn't but you will be fine
