Default ok, I have 2 questions related to Alltel and Verizon

first off, what is the latest Alltel software for the 8330, I have .127, btw

second, Is it safe to load a Verizon ROM (sorry if that is not the correct term) on an Alltel Curve?

it would probably be best if you didnt d/l any verizon software to an alltel phone until after the conversion ... and if you do... it would defintaely be at your own risk.... if anything came up and you started having trouble w your software... alltel would be very limited on what they would be able to assist you w and it could possibly void out any warranty you have on your phone.... while alltel and verizon both use the cdma service on towers... theyre still using different software on their phones.... thats why you cant use an alltel phone on a verizon account and vice versa

Alltel has released .160 for the 8330(check the other threads here). Go to the bb website and you should find it there, alltel has not posted it on their site yet afaik.

Fwiw I've been running the telus .160 on my alltel phone for quite a while now and .131 before that and both are better than .127. The software is the same, all os's are released by rim then different carriers just add a vendor.xml file. Once you delete that file its just the os as long as its an os for the 8330 it doesn't matter which carrier "officially" released it.

True. So you can actually choose the os for your device. Just make sure it is device specific.
