Default New OS?

Anyone think that Alltel will release any official OS for us remaining souls?

Yeah, I'm aware of that. One of the last phones to get an OS update... and one of the last carriers, too. I'm sure. I've installed "non-official" OS's before. It's no big deal... was just wondering.

Kind of a bummer, you have the storm, storm 2, Tour and essex to come first and to top it off you are an altell subsrciber....you have a lot stacked against you.

Yup. Sucks. *shrug* Oh well. I still get a good signal with Alltel, and I love my curve, so I'll deal with it.

You don't necessarily have to use Alltel or Verizon's OS. If Sprint or some other carrier has a newer official OS, all you need to do is delete the vendor xml file and it will be fine to use on your phone.

I'm using an AT&T OS on mine, but I had used a Vodafone UK one before AT&T issued theirs.

Just check the 8330 forums and the latest official OS should be in a sticky at the top of the forums.

Yep, done it before. It is easy to do. Just like running the "official" version sometimes.... just in case I do something stupid like drop my phone in water or whatnot. LOL

It won't void your warranty since it's not a beta, it is official just for a different carrier.

Really? I was unaware of that. I thought it did void the warrenty. Granted, I do have insurance, but wasn't sure of the effect messing with the OS would have on that.
