Question LG Tritan from Alltel having problems

About a month ago, my adult son got an LG Tritan and his 2 yr. upgrade on his Family Share line, as we were eligible back in Aug. for renewal. He upgraded, I did not on my line.

Now his Tritan is having some issues, and since Verizon does not sell this phone, what are his options ? We don't know if the problem is a hardware or software issue. I called the store where he bought it, and they told him they would try to fix it, or call in to corporate to see if they will replace it using his insurance. Are those his only two options? Use his insurance, or see if they can fix it inhouse?

I thought insurance was for owner-caused damage or loss/theft.

If it's been less than 30 days since getting the phone - you can get an exchange under the "DOA" policy if the store has any Tritans. They are scarce in corporate stores not yet converted to VZW. If it has been more than 30 days, you'd do a warranty exchange by mail - and I don't know if they'd have a Tritan to swap with you.

Insurance also covers malfunctions - and you'd have to see if Asurian would be able to get you a Tritan if you went for a claim.

It's been over 30 days. If they don't have a Tritan to swap out, then what?

Will Verizon take care of any issues with this phone, even tho they don't sell it? 2 more yrs. is a long time for that phone, even a swapped out one to not ever have any issues that might need help.

if its been less than a year since you got the phone, more than likely they will swap it out with a similar verizon phone. they have done it for two of my lines.

After conversion - Verizon will do a warranty exchange and you'd get a VZW model phone that's closest in features and capabilities as a Tritan. You'd have to check with a store, or call Customer Service, and they might be able to find out what is available for a replacement for a Tritan through the warranty exchange by mail program.... or call Asuiran about a claim, and see what model they're using to replace Tritans if they have none.
