Also, the use current option is only there when the browser is set to HotSpot Browser.

what's even more baffling to me is that i DID it sucessfully earlier today. but when i tried to install some updates that BB Desktop Manager detected, something went wrong and my Curve 8900 was completely wiped. i just finished re-syncing all of my data... and now this is the only thing i cannot figure out!!
Though not intentional, my fix is probably specific for the 8330 devices. I notice you have the 8900 and most likely a 4.6 OS. The 8330 uses the 4.5 OS. I have successfully changed the Browser for the .89, .127, .138, and .160 versions. Every time I updated my OS I had to find another solution for the Browser fix. Your recent updates may have created the same situation I ran into during my several updates. I simply tried various attempts until I found one that worked. I saw where another poster said to delete the Help guide. I also read somewhere that when you do this, the Help guide returns if you re-send service books and if you do a battery pull, you lose the direct link to the Browser and have to go through the process again. Keep trying and hopefully you'll get your solution.

Set it to home page and set your home page to google then try it that way. That's how mine is setup and I have no problems with my browser.

I_hiker, thank you! This is the only thing that has worked since I upgraded my browser. What a blessed relief!

Thanks...the later OS releases after 4.5.0.138 do not seem to need the "browser fix". Glad this worked for you.

hello. im having big problems with this. i've got an 8520 on t mobile and i cant change the homepage at all.i've tried everything ive read in this thread but its still locked to t mobiles homepage. i dont even have a lot of the options available that ive read in this thread for example the 'use current' option doesn't even appear in my browser config. any help would be greatly appreciated it.

i did just buy the phone today so perhaps the software needs updating or something like that? but im only speculating

Log into Google first, back out with the red "phone" button and then go into your browser. Menu>Options>Browser Config. Advance down to Home Page Address:, click on menu and then "clear field"? I was in the VZW store a couple of weeks ago and changed the bowser on the 8530 display. I don't remember what I had to do from there. I might have just hit "save". Changed browser on the Tour as well. Good luck.
