Default Furious with Alltel!!!!!!

My Curve 8330, the trackball stopped selecting the other day and I bought the phone back during xmas. So I took the phone up to alltel and told them my situation and since i was covered in the warranty they were going to do the XBM (exchange by mail) to get me a refurbised phone. So i went through the process of getting a loaner phone (which doesnt charge through the wall only through usb on the computer), and blackberry is going to mail me a new one within 3-5 buiness days, so i was like ok, this was on sunday and now its friday and still no phone. So i called alltel and they were like well im in blackberrys system and i see that they have no curves in stock!!! WTF!!! How does Blackberry as a company have no curves in stock!!!?????? Then the rep told me well you should get your phone sometime in may...How do you tell someone your going to get i sometime it may?? So i wanted to verify this so i called blackberry itself and the lady told me that they have nothing to do with sending phones out, thats has to do with your carrier. So now im stuck with two different stories with alltel telling me blackberry is gonna send my phone and blackberry telling me that alltel is going to send it out. Now im stuck with this ugly a** motorola phone until i get my phone "soemtime" in may. I was so furious, i want to go to the store but i dont wanna lose it in there. Has anyone else had a familiar story??? Just had to vent a little.....

You are doing a warranty exchange through the mail. Typically takes about 3-5 business days. I've seen it take a few extra days in some cases, other times, its less. As far as your numbers and such, be sure to back that up using Desktop Manager.

The rep was referring to the fact that many alltel stores did not have curves in stock and they were on backorder. If any customer ordered a curve through alltel.com or a rep ordered a curve for a customer; they were still on backorder.

Sorry for the confusion, but I would make the general assumption that your exchange should be arriving shortly. I haven't heard of any XBM's taking extra time in regards to the curve.

The phones don't come from blackberry they come from one of alltels refurbishing centers. The rep who told you that was mistaken. The XBM process can take a few days longer but you will get it eventually. Have you thought about trying to replace your trackball?

Which I think is dumb because how are you gonna be low and out of stock on one and if not the most popular device????

Your answer is in your question, "if not the most popular device". I'm sure after this amount of time its a supply problem from the manufacturer...not anything alltel can control.

I must say that I'm furious with alltel also. I tried to do an ESN swap and even though alltel and verizon have sealed the deal, they don't want to change it to a verizon branded phone. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

We, as reps DO have the info avaliable to program vzw phones to work on alltel service, the main problem is there is no tech support, no warrenty support, no support at all if your phone fails. That is a huge risk as a companyan and a shot in the dark for you as a customer. I've done it a couple times but always give the customer the disclaimer " we can only guarentee it will make phone calls, the quality of the calls, and signal quality, along with txt and data on the phone, we can't guarentee.

So to answer the offtopic questions, we as a company can't support vzw phones yet so we usually won't activate them. We are "together" as a company, as in they are free calls and you get their towers for signal but not much more yet. Be patient.
