Default Free minutes to check voicemail

I noticed on my acct that my own number was the most frequently called person that I called. So I called the cust service # and ask if I could put my own number in "my circle" so it wouldn't use anytime minutes when I checked voicemail.

The helpful lady said no I couldn't do that, but if I would let her look at my acct she would see what she could do. So I give her the info, and then she says that she could give me 100 free minutes that would kick in when I checked my voicemail if I was over my allotted minutes for that month already. She then verified that I would like this free "feature" added to this particular phone number, to which I told her that would be great.

I know this sounds crazy, so if anyone has any other info on this deal chime in here.

If I call my voicemail from my phone, isn't that alltel to alltel minutes? Which should be free. Either way she corrected your problem so its all good I guess.

No, every carrier charges minutes to do that, try putting yourself on your circle via the website.

At least last time I checked.

They charge your anytime minutes to check your voicemail. If you put your number in your circle you will not be charged any minutes, it will be MM minutes. It works I know.

I was under the assumption that checking your voice mail and talking to costumer support was free?

Nope.

611 is free. Otherwise, it's not.

And voice mail definitely isn't, unless you use a work around.

It depends on your rate plan and the features that go with it. Someone who has an older rate plan may still have voicemail calls free.

So this now has me wondering, since it costs me anytime minutes to check voicemail if I activate the voicemail to text option would it then be free since I have unlimited text messages?

No, the Voice2Text will not use minutes. It will only go through and use your text messages, so if you have unlimted nothing to worry about. However, if you still call your voicemail because V2T does not translate the VM properly you will be billed minutes.

Also putting your number into My Circle may only work as a temp solution, Alltel will audit the My Circle to ensure that you have no other Alltel customers programmed and that your own is not. If the audit finds anything like this it will be deactivated.
