Default Easy to cancel TelNav trial? Other questions too

I have wanted GPS to work with my phone for a while now. Today I just found a topic in this forum saying I might have to run TelNav to get GPS working in the first place.

It says I can try a free 30 day trial but in setting up the program I thought of a question; how big of a hassle will it be cancelling before 30 days is over.

Has anybody done this to get their GPS working with BB maps or Google Maps?

Yes, but the gps will only work as long as telenav is installed. I upgraded my os to .131 and now .160 and the gps works fine, this is really the only way to get the gps working for free.

As far as installing/cancelling telenav its pretty simple, when you delete the app it will still show up on your bill. According to cs they bill for telenav 1 month in advance, all I did was call in and tell them I had deleted the app prior to the 30 days trial and the credited my acct. Hope this helps.

I'm using a Pearl and the versions available (or linked to) here in these forums is either .131 or .138. Both threads have many posts about issues ranging from worse signal, to some kind of lag, memory issues, etc.

On Alltel's site they only have .127. Why would they be so far behind? I know I can use any carrier's I just hate doing it because I think I'll screw something up.

I'm on Alltel's .122 now.

Fwiw google maps is nothing special as far as gps goes, its slow and spotty at best. Try telenav for a couple weeks, I thought it wasn't that great especially for $9.99 a month.

As far as changing os's its a really easy process and reasonably hard to screw up if you don't like the different os you can always change back.

Yea well I've done an upgrade (on the os) before and it wasn't that bad but last night was a mess. I tried to upgrade to .127 and everything went to ****. 2 hours later I was finally back on .122 so I guess I just won't bother.

GUYS!!!
what are you thinking!?

You can have GPS for free. So simple. I followed online instructions (from this site I think) for both our 8130 Pearls. Under Alltel, it's even easier than other providers.

Thanks for the help, but that guide just looks ridculous long and detailed. At this point with all the trouble I have previously had, I'm not going to bother anymore. Every time I mess with my phone my calender gets deleted and I can't easily restore it.
