Default Can I cancel contract when Verizon takes over

This question has probably been asked a thousand times, so I apologize if I missed the answer. But I just received a "Customer Agreement Terms & Conditions" and not sure if I understand all the fine print. Please tell me if I can or cannot cancel my contract with Alltel and go to another carrier other than Verizon without any penalty? Thanks

No you can't. That is why they are grandfathering alltel plans. Unless they make a change to your contract it is still binding. Same contract just a different owner. No different than when someone buys your morgage.

No you can't. However, I received an offer from Verizon to switch all phones to them under a new contract and they will waive all fees including the early termination fee from Alltel.

make sure you look closely at the plan you are giving up for the one you will be getting. Verizon doesnt offer 7pm n&w (important for me). Im not sure if you get unlimited messaging with the blackberry plan either.

Ask yourself this: Did VZW really just buy 15 million customers to have them get out of their contract?

Phone companies are evil, even if you brake or lose your phone, the contract still goes.

This is simply not true. Verizon Wireless offers customers phones for 1 year upgrade pricing for damaged/lost/stolen if they do not have insurance.

And yes, the contract will still go if you chose not to replace your equipment. How should a company be liable for something you broke or lost? This is Obama-feel-sorry mentality. Sorry, but right now we still live in a free market society.

actually you should be able to because when tmo bought out suncom i had 30 days to ditch them and get a new contract with someone else without penalty because I wasn't the one changing the contract to someone else, it was bought out without my approval because I didn't want tmo. Check with them.

did you get this offer from Verizon via paper mail? or did someone offer it to you? while i'd rather not pay more in a rate plan i'd love to get the Tour and all verizon store AND alltel stores i've called have said that they aren't able to offer me anything like that unless i pay ETF for Alltel.

Negative. VZW is much smarter and Alltel was structured to be a sell out. It was only a matter of time and everything was in place.

Again I say - no company will buy roughly 15 million customers and give them a free way out. What kind of dumb business decision would that be?

Exactly, but I honestly think VZW could have handled the whole thing better
