billing merger & # porting question

my mi alltel #'s are not currently eligible for porting to vz. once the billing merger occurs on Oct 17, will vz "own" my 2 alltel #'s so that they can be put on vz service? i'm chomping at the bit to add my alltel #'s to my vz plan. the alltel contracts are up. one of the #'s was a landline that was ported to alltel & i really don't want to lose the # because the user has had it for 20+ years. the other # is native to alltel.

After the 17th, you won't need to port - you'll just need to do Verizon's version of Alltel's 'assumption of liability' for those numbers from one account to another.

will alltel stores be dealing vz products after that?

i am in seattle where there are plenty of vz stores, but my 2 family members who are using the alltel phones are in N. MI, 2 hours from the nearest alltel store that's currently selling both co's phones.

if my fam can't get vz phones in mi, i'm guessing i'll have to overnight them phones from seattle.
