Alltels...Huawei EC168

My question for anyone who knows this stuff is.....I have the Huawei EC168 through Alltel, I bought a router to make it wireless but wondering...how do I make it so I can use it on my desktop (which isn't wireless) AND my laptop? If I connect it to the computer and connect the ethernet cable to it, I get a signal on both but its so weak, I can't bring anything up. My point in getting the router was to use both at the same time.

it should work on both just fine. How is your signal when the datacard is connected directly to the computer?

I have that data card. I'm using a Cradle Point cpt 350 router, it supports up to 8 wireless devices and also has an ethernet hook-up to plug into a desk top pc. The wireless is pretty good, I have been able to use it to play my x-box and wii online.

Alo, another thought, I had to get an external antenna to boost the data card's signal, and that helped out a good bit.
