if its like when tmo took over suncom you have 30 days to get out of your contract for free if you don't like them and can go somewhere else. If you like them then just stay until your orginal contract is up and then resign with at&t.

As soon as you can do so, cancel AT&T and got to Verizon, AT&T is crap, and ues you should be allowed to cancel when they take over, if not fight them with the Better Business Bureau

Don't expect your experience with Alltel to continue...

I'm really not even sure what AT&T plans to do with these market. Currently all divested Alltel subscribers moving to AT&T are using CDMA phones, and using CDMA towers.
I'm curious as to how they plan to get these subscribers into new devices and plans...

In other GSM/CDMA conversions I've read about - the customers were given a window of opportunity to exchange one type of hardware for the other - and the other system had to be maintained to to satisfy roaming agreements that covered the geographic area.

Yea.. I talked to a rep yesterday. She said that until everyone who stayed got new GSM equipment, roaming agreements would let people stay with their CDMA equipment. That probably won't happen til mid-2010 though.

Also, if you say you want to leave now (which I was planning on doing), they'll give you 20% off for a year, which would correspond to the AT&T switchover. The more you know
